A 37-year-old North Judson woman was taken into custody early Monday morning after a Marshall County deputy conducting a suspicious-person watch found her exiting a residence where she had no permission to be.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, Deputy Wozniak was observing a residence in the 7000 block of Union Road in Donaldson at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Monday, September 14th, for a suspicious person. A female subject was observed exiting the residence. When the officer made contact, the woman initially gave a false name — her sister's name, according to investigators.
She was later identified as Vallarie Peretti, 37, of North Judson. It was learned that she did not have permission to be on the property or inside the residence.
Peretti was also found to have an active warrant out of St. Joseph County for surrounding states.
She was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail.
Peretti has been charged with a Level 6 felony for identity deception and an A misdemeanor for false informing. Her cash bond was set at $1,500.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
