The Putnam County Prosecutor's Office has opted not to file charges related to an accidental shooting inside the Greencastle Walmart last month.
In September, officers arrived to Walmart and found a male subject who suffered a gunshot wound after carrying a handgun in the waist of his pants without a holster. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his groin area.
The decision to file no charges came after an investigation by the Greencastle Police, who determined there was no other risk to public safety as the victim was alone when the gun fired.
"Accidental discharge by male subject carrying handgun in the waist of jeans with no holster," Greencastle Police Chief Ed Jones told The Putnam County Post.
