The Indiana Department of Transporation announces a new traffic pattern and new ramp closures that will impact State Road 63 and I-74 in northern Vermillion County, as part of an ongoing intersection improvement project.
Beginning on or after Monday, August 4, traffic in both directions will move from the southbound lanes to the northbound lanes, with both southbound lanes being closed. This pattern is anticipated to last around two months, weather-permitting. In addition to the shift in traffic pattern, the on and off ramps to I-74 eastbound (Exit 4) will be closed for just over one month, weather-permitting. The westbound exit ramp of I-74 that was previously closed is now open.
Traffic entering I-74 eastbound will be directed to enter from the westbound lanes, and to turn around at Lynch Road (Exit 220), and traffic exiting I-74 will be directed to use Exit 8 at Covington. All work for this project is anticipated to be complete by October but is weather-dependent and subject to change. One additional change in the traffic pattern is also anticipated at this location in the coming weeks.
