Marshall County Police arrested a man who was four times the legal limit for alcohol after the Marshall County Central Dispatch Center was notified of a possibly impaired driver on Wednesday, March 19.
At about 5:30 Wednesday afternoon, a caller called 911 to report a possibly impaired driver traveling north on U.S. 31 from U.S. 30. The caller later advised that the suspect vehicle exited U.S. 31 onto Veterans Parkway.
The suspect vehicle was later located, and a traffic stop was conducted. During the investigation, it was suspected that the driver, Christopher B. Aviles, of Mishawaka, was operating a vehicle while intoxicated. It was determined that Aviles had a BAC of over four times the legal limit. He was later arrested and lodged in the Marshall County Jail with a Marshall Superior II Court date of April 15.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
