Marshall County Soil and Water Conservation is excited to announce its first annual Fall Tree Sale, offering native trees and shrubs selected specifically for the region. Orders are being accepted now through September 15th for fall delivery.
The sale features "keystone" plants chosen for their ability to provide the greatest benefit to pollinators and birds in this part of the state when used in home landscaping. Unlike most tree sales sponsored by Solid Waste Districts, these are not bare-root seedlings. These are native potted trees that will provide shade, screening, and food and cover for wildlife within a few years of planting.
Executive Director Jodi Overmyer, who has worked in the landscaping business for many years, is available to assist customers in selecting the proper trees and shrubs for their yard. Species for this year's sale were chosen based on availability, and Overmyer encourages anyone unsure of what to order to reach out for personalized advice.
Prices range from $20 to $60 depending on variety. Order forms are available on the Marshall County Soil and Water Conservation website at marshallcountyswcd.org or can be filled out in person at the office.
The organization hopes the sale will help get more great native plants out into the county, benefiting both homeowners and local wildlife.
