Marshall County Commissioners and Council to hold special joint work session Monday

The Marshall County Board of Commissioners and the County Council will hold a special joint work session on Monday, June 8th, at 2 p.m. in the second-floor meeting room of the County Building to tackle several significant financial matters facing the county.

Topping the agenda are miscellaneous budget matters and funding for the county jail and courts. The session will also address highway-related funding, the allocation of Opioid Settlement Funds, and other related financial topics.

The work session is open to the public and will be streamed live on the county's YouTube channel, though the format does not include a public comment period. Under Indiana's Open Door Law, joint work sessions between governing bodies must be publicly noticed at least 48 hours in advance and are primarily intended for discussion, planning, and information-gathering. Any formal votes or binding decisions resulting from Monday's discussions would take place at subsequent regular public meetings of each board.

Joint work sessions between the Board of Commissioners and the County Council allow both governing bodies to collaborate on major budget and policy matters before taking formal action, providing transparency while streamlining the decision-making process.

Residents wishing to follow the proceedings can tune in via the Marshall County YouTube channel on Monday afternoon.
