The city of Lawrenceville will be conducting smoke testing of its sanitary sewer system in the Lincoln Heights Addition starting Thursday, August 7th of 2025.
Work crews will be in the area for the smoke testing process. It will assist them in locating breaks and defects in the sewer lines. A special non-toxic smoke will be used with no effect on human, plant or animal life. The smoke should not enter a residence unless it has a defect in the plumbing system or there are drain traps that have dried up. If smoke enters a location, then corrective actions will need to be taken.
That area of the city has been plagued by basement and other lower-level flooding, especially after heavy rainfall and has been the subject of citizen complaints to the city. It is anticipated that a full report on the testing will be made to the city council in the near future.
