The suspect then sped off, heading westbound on I-70 toward Henry County.
A Greencastle man arrested after pursuit in Wayne County.
Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported burglary at a residence on SR 1 south of Hagerstown. Upon investigation, deputies discovered signs of forced entry into both a barn and the garage attached to the house. Evidence found at the scene was recovered to aid in identifying the suspect.
Witnesses provided descriptions of a vehicle seen leaving the property shortly before deputies arrived. Acting swiftly, deputies located a vehicle matching this description at a gas station off of I-70, a few miles from the burglary site. A traffic stop on the vehicle was attempted as it left the gas station, but when stopped the driver refused to identify himself or exit the vehicle fully. The suspect then sped off, heading westbound on I-70 toward Henry County.
Deputies pursued, with the vehicle continuing westbound before taking exit 123, only to re-enter I-70 eastbound. The chase concluded when the suspect stopped again and the driver was taken into custody. He was identified as Michael Sensebaugh, 31, of Greencastle.
Sheriff Randy Retter commented on the incident, stating, “The quick and decisive actions of our deputies led to the apprehension of a suspect and the recovery of crucial evidence. We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community, and this case is a testament to our dedication.”
Sensebaugh has been lodged on preliminary charges of residential entry and resisting law enforcement. Additionally, items potentially related to the burglary were seized as evidence following the apprehension.
