County Police arrested a Fort Wayne woman on Sunday, March 10th after being alerted to a reckless driver on U.S. 30.
Deputy Ash was dispatched for a reckless driver at about 5 p.m. Sunday. The caller told dispatchers the vehicle was eastbound on U.S. 30 from Plymouth Goshen Trail. The deputy located the suspect vehicle just west of State Road 331 still eastbound on U.S. 30.
Marshall County Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to stop and accelerated to speeds more than 100mph. Eventually, the vehicle stopped just east of the Marshall County line.
The driver, 33-year-old Iyesha Howard of Fort Wayne, was uncooperative and non-compliant. Responding officers were forced to remove her from the vehicle. During the investigation, it was discovered that Ms. Howard had 2 very small children improperly secured in the back seat of the vehicle and it was determined that she was intoxicated.
Additionally, Iyesha Howard battered a Marshall County Sheriff’s Department police officer with bodily waste.
Ms. Howard was arrested and lodged in the Marshall County Jail for OWI - Endangering, OWI - at/above 0.15%, Neglect of a Dependent, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Battery by Bodily Waste. She was held on a $1,500 cash bond.
Marshall County Police were assisted by Bourbon Police and the Indiana State Police.
