Free Thanksgiving Dinner on Nov. 22 for those in need, volunteers needed

The Plymouth Wesleyan Church and several other churches will host a free Thanksgiving meal on Nov. 22, for various residents of Plymouth.

The goal is to provide a delicious Thanksgiving meal to residents of Plymouth who are experiencing homelessness, low-income households, single-parent families, disabled veterans, and seniors requiring support.

If you participated last year in the Thanksgiving meal served at the Red Rock, that is what the churches are planning again this year, but on a much larger scale. They want every guest to feel seen, valued, and welcomed into a space filled with God’s love and community generosity.

To be clear, while Plymouth Wesleyan Church (PWC) is hosting the event at their facility, the Thanksgiving dinner is not a PWC event. This is a city-wide initiative to bless the city of Plymouth.

Would you like to get involved in this effort? You can help in two important ways: serve at the dinner or invite those in need to attend. The group will need helping hands to make this meal a success.

Volunteers can assist with food prep, serving, setting up, cleaning up, or simply welcoming guests with a smile. Everyone can help spread the word to anyone you know who could be blessed by a free meal, especially those in need. No one should go hungry or feel alone this Thanksgiving.

Those attending should RSVP by calling the church office at 574-936-3637.

The initial Vision Team members are Gregg and Kelly Erickson, Shelley Marsilliano, Doug and Nan Pomeroy, and Hurshel Hunter. They’ve been joined by the congregations at Trinity United Methodist Church, Plymouth Baptist Church, Plymouth Community Church, Saint Michael Catholic Church of Plymouth, and Church of the Brethren.

Multiple organizations in the city are also involved, including the Council on Aging, Plymouth FOP, DAV Chapter 42, Shepherd’s Beginnings, Real Services, and David’s Courage.
