Former Indianapolis Colts player Daniel Muir was arrested on federal charges in Pulaski County.

According to reports, Daniel Muir, 42, who is now a pastor in Logansport, was booked into the Pulaski County Jail in Winamac on federal charges on Thursday, August 20. Muir has since been released on bond.

Court records show Muir has pending charges that were filed earlier this year in May that include false and fictitious statement in acquisition of a firearm, a Level 5 Felony; and false statement to a licensed firearms dealer; a Level 6 Felony.

Muir also faces charges in connection with the three-week disappearance of his teenage son in 2024 that includes obstruction of justice, a Level 6 Felony; battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 Felony; obstruction of justice in a domestic violence case, a Level 5 Felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor. A trial was set for those charges on September 28, but has since been rescheduled.

In connection with that case, his wife, Kristin Muir, was charged with obstruction of justice, a Level 5 Felony. Her trial had also been set for September 28, but has since been rescheduled. The Muir's trial delays were due to the recent arrest.

Muir's investigation first began when their teenage son, Bryson, was reported to have injuries consistent with abuse.

In June 2024 Bryson's grandmother reported the abuse after the boy allegedly confessed his father had been responsible for his injuries. After the report was made the boy left with his mother and wasn’t seen until three weeks later, when authorities raided their Logansport property.

Prior to the raid, a Silver Alert had been issued for Bryson. The Indiana State Police stated the Muirs had not cooperated in the search and “backed out” of an agreement to bring their son to meet with investigators.

The Muirs' defense team has since tried to argue that the case should be dismissed, but a judge denied the motion. Cass County prosecutor Noah Schafer said he would work with their attorney to reschedule the trial dates.

Daniel Muir spent parts of four seasons as a defensive tackle with the Indianapolis Colts and also played for the St. Louis Rams, New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders. He now serves as a pastor for Straitway Indiana-Goshen, located off US Highway 24 near Logansport. Muir was seen speaking on a YouTube livestream on Wednesday, August 19 for the Straitway Indiana-Goshen channel the day before his arrest before his arrest.
