An early morning traffic stop for a moving violation resulted in the arrest of a Plymouth man on Friday, March 20.
According to the Plymouth Police Department, Officer Ayala initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of U.S. 30 and Pioneer Drive just after 1:00 a.m.
Upon making contact with the driver, identified as 29-year-old Andres Aguirre Valente, who resides at the Northgate Trailer Park on North Michigan Street, officers determined that he did not possess a valid driver's license through the State of Indiana.
Valente was subsequently taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Marshall County Jail. He was booked on a preliminary charge of knowingly or intentionally operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
