Officer Jordan Rans with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched Thursday morning, June 13th at approximately 8:00 o’clock to the report of a possibly impaired driver traveling east on State Road 17 from the area of Sycamore Road.
The suspect vehicle was located, and a traffic stop was conducted on Pioneer Drive south of Lincoln Highway for several traffic infractions.
During the stop, the officer detected impairment, and an OWI investigation was conducted. As a result of the investigation, Dazha R. Oakley, 26, from Lincoln Highway in Donaldson was arrested and lodged in the Marshall County Jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction. She was issued a Superior II court date of June 25. Her cash bond of $1,500 was posted at 9:45 p.m. and Oakley was released on bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
