With leaves beginning to fall and nice weather expected through the weekend, leaf piles will soon start to accumulate.
Beginning Monday, October 26, the Culver Street/Utilities Department will begin collecting leaves raked to the curb. To help crews collect leaves as safely and efficiently as possible, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
- Place leaves near the road, but not in the road. The leaf collection truck uses a vacuum hose that can reach only so far. If you notice a neat line of leaves remaining after collection, they may have been just beyond the hose’s reach.
- Remove branches and sticks from leaf piles. Please place them in a separate pile so they do not clog the vacuum hose. Once the crew has leaf collection under control, they will return to collect the branches.
- Please do not rake leaves into the street. Leaves that are run over by vehicles become matted down and more difficult to collect. Leaves can also cover storm drains, slowing drainage and potentially causing backups.
- Please be patient as the crew works through town. The crew follows a designated route and will start over once the route is complete. Properties should be visited at least once a week.
