Deputy Bragg with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated a two-vehicle accident on Thursday, June 6th at about 1:30 in the morning where the driver admitted to falling asleep.
The accident happened west of Plymouth in the westbound lane of U.S. 30 at the Lincoln Highway intersection.
Aldo Sanchez Quijano, 20, from Worth Illinois was traveling west on U.S. 30 in a 2002 Hyundai Elantra early in the morning and as he approached the Lincoln Highway intersection in the left passing lane.
36-year-old Jamar Howard of Indianapolis was also trailing west in a 2000 Lincoln Towncar.
Quijano told Deputy Bragg that he fell asleep, and his Hyundai crossed the right lane and his front end collided with the rear of Howard’s Lincoln.
Quijano reported no injuries and Howard complained of pain in his back and neck. He was transported by ambulance to the Plymouth Hospital for evaluation and treatment and was listed in stable condition.
Deputy Bragg was assisted at the scene by Plymouth Fire, Plymouth EMS, officers from the Marshall and Starke County Sheriff’s Departments and Starke County EMS.
