Sunrise Hotel of Plymouth Inc., the owners of 2550 North Michigan Street, the Red Rock Inn, were issued an Order to Vacate on Monday, June 2nd, by City of Plymouth Building Commissioner Dennis Manuwal. The order pertains to the second story of the motel and took effect immediately.
The order states that the city building commissioner has determined that the structure is an unsafe building pursuant to state law and city ordinances. Specifically, due to the condition of its balconies, guard rails, and stairways, the structure is unsafe under Indiana Code 36-7-9-4 (a)
(1) in an impaired structural condition that makes it unsafe to a person on the property
(2) a hazard to public health,
(3) dangerous to a person or property because of a violation of a statute or ordinance concerning building condition or maintenance. The structure is also unsafe under City Code 100.07.
The Order to Vacate requires the occupants of the second story of the Red Rock Inn to vacate the premises until these repairs are remediated.
Nilesh Patel, who lives in Zurich Harbor City, NJ, has initiated the process of relocating residents from the second floor. So far, six rooms are empty, with several more expected to be moved in the next day or two. Patel told the building commissioner that he has a contractor from New Jersey who will be here next week to make the repairs.
