A Chicago man was arrested on the highway in relation to driving under the influence of alcohol.
Around 7:00 p.m. on June 22nd, Marshall County Deputy Geiger made a traffic stop on a 2017 Chevrolet pickup truck. The truck was on US 30, near Elm Road, and had been pulled over for traffic infractions.
The driver of the pickup truck was identified as Cesar Arevalo from Chicago, Illinois. In his report, Deputy Geiger states noticing impairment with the driving behavior and the behavior of Arevalo. When asked to do the field sobriety test, Mr. Arevalo refused all tests.
A search warrant for blood was applied and granted, giving an idea of the intoxication levels of the driver. Arevalo had over three times the legal limit (.08%) blood alcohol concentration at .273%.
Arevalo was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked around 9:30 pm, given a court date, and a cash bond of $1,500. His cash bond was paid, and was released from jail around 1:45 pm on the 23rd.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
