An investigation has been launched after authorities reported burglars posing as fiber optics workers in Miami County on Sunday, March 2.
According to the Miami County Sheriff's Office and Indiana State Police, the suspects allegedly posed as fiber optic company employees. Three white males had been reported in the area wearing high-visibility vests and carrying a clipboard in the area around the time of the burglary.
During Sunday's incident, the homeowner had reported he was distracted by two of the suspects, which allowed the third suspect to enter the residence. The victim stated a number of items had been taken during the burglary including cash, silver and jewelry.
The suspects were reportedly driving a newer, dark gray, four-door pickup truck that is either Dodge or Ford. No company logo was noted to be on the truck.
Authorities are asking for anyone who has experienced a similar situation, or more information on the burglary to contact Miami County Deputy Travis Bowsher at 765-472-1322, ext. 4410.
