A Bremen teenager was arrested early Thursday morning after police discovered he had never obtained a driver's license.
Plymouth Police conducted a traffic stop at approximately 2:05 a.m. on a vehicle traveling northbound on North Michigan Street at U.S. 30, underneath the overpass. Officers initiated the stop after observing the vehicle driving without illuminated taillights.
During the stop, officers determined that the driver, Yeffrey Miguel-Mejia, 18, of Faith Street in Bremen, had been operating the vehicle without ever having obtained a driver's license.
Miguel-Mejia was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of operating a vehicle without a license. He is being held on a $100 cash bond.
Indiana law requires all drivers to possess a valid driver's license before operating a motor vehicle on public roadways.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made
