The identity of an individual involved in an automobile accident on County Road 775 near the Owen-Putnam line has been identified.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to a call of a crash on December 20. The call came in by way of an automated crash notification from a cell phone inside the vehicle. Upon arriving, deputies found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames and after the fire was put out, officials found the remains of an individual in the driver's seat.
The individual has been identified as Cayla Clark, of Brazil, Indiana, by the Putnam County Coroner's Office.
According to police, an investigation indicated the vehicle left the left side of a driveway and continued traveling before striking a tree head on. The vehicle then burst into flames. Due to the extreme heat of the fire, most of the vehicle was incinerated, including the vehicle black box.
At this time, no other information will be released from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
