Purdue Extension is hosting a Beef Quality Assurance Certification Training at the Fulton County 4-H Fairgrounds.
The training will be on Sept. 17, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Beef Quality Assurance is a program that provides systematic information to U.S. beef producers on how good husbandry techniques can be coupled with accepted scientific knowledge to raise cattle under optimum management conditions.
BQA programs have evolved to include best practices around cattle handling, facility management, cattle transportation, good record keeping, and protecting herd health, which all result in better outcomes for cattle and producers.
Today, having an active BQA certification is more important than ever because the whole beef supply chain is leveraging the program to ensure our commitment to food safety, cattle well-being, and beef quality. (bqa.org)
This certification program is for anyone who is raising dairy cattle or beef cattle for market. This certification lasts for three years, and you can receive a premium at market for being a certified producer.
If you are interested in attending this training, RSVP by contacting Kathryn Jennings at 574-533-0554 or email jennin30@purdue.edu, or Abby Anspach at (574) 223-3397 newman0@purdue.edu .
