The Greencastle School Board selected its newest member from a crowded field of seven candidates to serve the remainder of former member Mike White's appointment for Greencastle Township appointment.
The board opted for Jimmy Beasley Jr. over a field that included Carrie Ball, Scott Bieniek, John Mark Day, James Sprinkle, Anthony Tillman and Kevin Verhoff. Beasley will serve until June 30, 2027 and he joins a board that has added newcomer Kathryn Dory and current member Ed Wilson in recent weeks.
Beasley is no stranger to Greencastle Schools, as he taught English for two years at Greencastle Middle School and was the junior varsity basketball coach, as well as an assistant basketball and football coach at Greencastle High School. He previously served as athletic director and assistant lead educator for Patriot Academy and was an assistant principal at White River Valley. In addition, Beasley serves in the Indiana Army National Guard.
Wilson said the board is "pleased" to add Beasley.
"We had seven great candidates and the choice was not easy. Mr. Beasley brings an education background along with administration and coaching in public schools. He has children that attend Greencastle. He is also a resident of the township, and we felt that was important in the decision for the township position. We are excited to see what perspective he can bring to the board," Wilson told The Putnam County Post.
This is a developing story and will be updated as The Putnam County Post has reached out to Beasley.
