Officers with the Plymouth Police Department have made several arrests in recent days, including a driver with no license, another with marijuana, and one who was driving while suspended and wanted on warrants.
On Saturday, May 17th, Officers with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on an eastbound vehicle for speeding 87 mph in a 60 mph zone on U.S. 30 east of Michigan Street. The vehicle stopped on U.S. 30 and U.S. 31 for the traffic stop. Officer Fisher determined that the driver had never had a license. Julian Van Heerden, 40, of Niles, was taken into custody for operating a vehicle without a license, transported to the Marshall County Jail, and booked for the offense.
Saturday evening at approximately 9:15, Officer Witkowski conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling south on North Michigan Street near the U.S. 30 on ramp. Inside the vehicle, police found more than 50 grams of Marijuana. 550year-old Rickey Johnson of Craig, CO was arrested, transported to the County Jail, and booked in for possession of marijuana.
On Sunday, May 18th, Officer Witkowski with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling south on South Michigan Street. The driver, Joseph A. Romenzak, 50, of Knox, stopped at Michigan and Dickson Streets. During the investigation, it was learned that he had an active arrest warrant out of Marshall County. The officer also found a Schedule III Narcotic in the vehicle. Romenzak was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail to await his court date.
A vehicle driven by Roderick L.P. Kimble of Fort Wayne was stopped for a traffic infraction on Monday, November 19th, by Officer Krynock. Kimble was found to have a license status of suspended-prior. He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail, given a court date of June 24, and a cash bond of $500.
On Tuesday, May 20th, just after 8 a.m., 31-year-old Stephen Abair of West Madison Street in Plymouth was located at his place of employment, Zentis, and taken into custody for his warrants through Pulaski County. Abair was held at the Marshall County Jail to await transport.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
