On Sunday, March 12th (2023), just before midnight, Officer Wozniak with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department initiated a traffic stop on a 2008 Tao Tao moped on Michigan Road near Veteran's Parkway.
During the investigation, the officer located marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia. The driver of the moped, Carol J. Wagers, age 63 of 109 Ewing Street was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia.
While being booked into the jail, Carol Wagers was found to be in possession of additional marijuana and paraphernalia. She was held on a $250 cash bond. Wagers was released from jail at 1:50 Monday morning after posting the cash bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
