Prep Report: Waldron tennis blanks East Central to finish regular season at 13-3

Waldron tennis closed out its regular season schedule Monday with a 5-0 win over East Central.

At No. 1 singles, Charlie Fischer defeated Bo Nobbe, 6-1, 6-1. The win pushed Fischer’s career program wins record to 70.

Lincoln Fischer topped Owen Vollmer at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-2.

Noah Leap cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles over Tate Mosier.

At No. 1 doubles, Jackson Kuhn and Caige Sheaffer defeated Noah Kraus and Owen Mersmann, 6-3, 7-5.

Owen Hartman paired with Kevin Crouch to defeat Tate Mosier and Cole Allison at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, 6-3.

Waldron improved to 13-3 this season. The Mohawks travel to Shelbyville Wednesday for a sectional semifinal match against either Triton Central or Shelbyville.

Girls soccer

Greenfield-Central 6, Shelbyville 0

At Shelbyville, the visiting Cougars scored twice in the first half to take control then added four in the second half and secured the shutout victory over the Golden Bears (8-7).

Greenfield-Central improved to 9-4-1.

Volleyball

Greensburg def. Shelbyville, 25-21, 25-8, 25-16

At Shelbyville, Lyla Wilson led the host Golden Bears with eight kills, two service aces and six digs.

Hayden Ricketts had a team-high 11 digs. Addy Marshall finished with 22 assists.

Shelbyville dropped to 15-7.

The visiting Pirates improved to 16-1.

Trinity Lutheran def. Triton Central, 25-11, 25-15, 25-21

At Trinity Lutheran, Rachel Bonde led the victorious Cougars with 17 kills.

Presley Meyer finished with a team-high 12 digs and four aces. Emmy Price had four aces.

Trinity Lutheran improved to 17-8.

Lucy May led Triton Central (12-9) with nine kills.

Alaina Darlage had a team-high 12 digs and Maecy Cord collected two aces.

Waldron def. Edinburgh, 21-25, 25-11, 25-22, 25-16

At Waldron, Ashlyn Ramsey and Maleah Williams combined for 29 kills to improve the Mohawks to 12-13 (3-3 Mid-Hoosier Conference).

Ramsey (15 kills) also had seven aces and 31 digs.

Setter Abby Crouch racked up 35 assists.

The loss dropped the Lancers to 7-17 (1-5 MHC).

Class A Showdown

Morristown finished runner-up Saturday in the Class A Showdown.

The Yellow Jackets lost their opening match to Blue River Valley, 25-15, 14-25, 19-17. Brooklyn Carlton finished with 14 kills and 10 digs in the loss. Chloe Theobald had five aces.

Morristown bounced back to defeat Cowan, 25-22, 25-19. Carlton had 12 kills and 12 digs. Addison Osborne collected 20 assists.

The Yellow Jackets then defeated Wes-Del, 25-19, 25-16 to advance to the championship match.

Springs Valley bested Morristown, 25-13, 25-21. Carlton finished with team-high in kills (8) and digs (8).

Springs Valley improve to 15-8.

Morristown improved to 16-8.
