Prep Report: Chaney's hat trick leads Shelbyville soccer to win at Connersville

Shelbyville got a hat trick from freshman Camille Chaney to pull away Tuesday and defeat Connersville, 5-2.

Chaney added to her team-leading goal total with three goals against the Spartans (3-8-1). She now has 14 this season.

Ava Van Wye and Brigid McKenney also scored to improve the Golden Bears record to 7-5 this season.

Boys soccer

Shelbyville 0, Whiteland 0

At Shelbyville, the Golden Bears (5-7-1) and Warriors (5-4-3) played to a scoreless draw.

Morristown 2, Providence Cristo Rey 2

At Morristown, Weston Cole scored twice in the second half off assists from Brody Walton and Alex Anderson to secure a tie with the Wolves (4-6-3).

Landon Rinzel was credited with 20 saves in goal for the Yellow Jackets (4-6-2).

Boys tennis

Triton Central 5, Morristown 0

At Morristown, Cash Eck and Graham Gast lost the first set at No. 1 doubles then rallied to win the next two and complete the sweep for Triton Central.

Eck and Gast defeated Russ Kleine and Braxton Lenning, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.

At No. 2 doubles, Colton Ayres and Brylon Scott bested Arik Trattner and Ethan Tryon, 6-3, 6-2.

The trio of Brayden Hoover, Bradyn Robinson and Drayton Kermode lost just seven games total in singles victories.

Shelbyville 4, Rushville 1

At Shelbyville, the Golden Bears won both doubles matches and added singles wins from Kashton Laycock and Bram Kolkmeier to defeat the Lions.

At No. 1 singles, Laycock defeated Kaceik Lunsford, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.

Kolkmeier swept Brady Martz at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-3.

Shelbyville’s doubles teams lost just six games in straight-set victories.

Waldron 4, Batesville 1

At Waldron, the Mohawks swept the doubles matches and won at No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles.

At No. 1 doubles, Jackson Kuhn and Caige Sheaffer defeated Will Patterson and Wes Peters, 6-1, 6-1.

Wyatt Armstrong and Owen Hartman produced a 6-1, 6-2 win over Eli Doll and Coleman West at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 6-2.

Charlie Fischer and Lincoln Fischer won at No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles, respectively.

Volleyball

Shelbyville def. Lawrence Central, 25-21 25-22, 27-25

At Lawrence Central, Maggie Kolkmeier led the victorious Golden Bears with 12 kills and two service aces.

Hayden Ricketts had a team-high 11 digs and setter Addy Marshall finished with 26 assists.

Shelbyville improved to 15-5.

Lawrence Central dropped to 9-12.

Heritage Christian def. Triton Central, 25-19, 17-25, 18-25, 26-24, 15-11

At Triton Central, Lucy May led the host Tigers with 12 kills, but it was not enough to defeat the Eagles (9-7).

Anna Kemper finished with 34 assists and three aces.

Addy Gibbs had four solo blocks to surpass the Triton Central record for career blocks. She now has 170 blocks.

Triton Central dropped to 12-7.

South Decatur def. Waldron, 25-20, 25-15, 25-19

At South Decatur, Taylor Somers had 18 kills, five digs and two aces to lead the Cougars to the Mid-Hoosier Conference win.

South Decatur improved to 12-4 (6-1 MHC).

Waldron dropped to 10-10 (2-3 MHC).
