Prep Report: Shelbyville volleyball tops Morristown for ninth consecutive win

Three different Golden Bears reached the double-digit mark in kills Monday to lead Shelbyville to a 21-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-11 win over Morristown.

Lyla Wilson led Shelbyville (14-5) with 16 kills. Jordyn Noe had 14 and freshman Maggie Kolkmeier collected 10.

Senior Addy Marshall finished with 47 assists, 14 digs and four service aces.

Noe had three aces and two blocks.

Hayden Ricketts led the defensive effort with 17 digs. Addison Wooten had 13 and Chloe Caldwell finished with 10.

Shelbyville has won nine straight matches.

Morristown dropped to 14-5.

Girls golf

New Palestine Sectional

At The Links Golf Club, Mt. Vernon (343), New Palestine (375) and Greenfield-Central (391) qualified for regional competition.

Mt. Vernon’s Ressie Lemmon was the sectional champion with a 68. Advancing as individuals to the regional round of the state tournament were Eastern Hancock’s Abby Kihlstrum (89), Rushville’s Ella Tressler (96) and Eastern Hancock’s Aubrey Whittington (98).

Triton Central’s Charlee Baker carded 107 to bring an end to her season.

Morristown’s Jorja Geise (135) and Jaylynn Geise (141) also played their final rounds of the season.

Boys soccer

Greenwood Christian 2, Southwestern 1

At Greenwood Christian, Carson Miley scored the game-winning goal with 13 minutes left in the second half to get the Class A, No. 7 Cougars the win over Class A, No. 15 Southwestern.

Thomas Stines opened the scoring for Greenwood Christian (6-5) in the first half to make it 1-0.

Ethan Sipes scored his 13^th goal of the season with just under 14 minutes left in the half to even the score.

Chandler Holt was credited with 11 saves for the Spartans (7-4-2).

Girls soccer

Triton Central 3, Rushville 2

At Triton Central, Maddie Burnett scored a pair of goals and Lilli Kegley found the back of the net to improve Triton Central to 7-6 this season.

Alina Kahler had two assists for the Tigers. Mallory Diehl was credited with five saves in goal.

Rushville dropped to 5-7-1.

Boys tennis

Tri 3, Morristown 2

At Tri, the Yellow Jackets’ match wins came from Eli Graves at No. 1 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Russ Kleine and Braxton Lenning.

Volleyball

Knightstown def. Southwestern, 25-19, 25-14, 25-13

At Knightstown, Lanee Swindell had 14 kills to lead the host Panthers over the Spartans (8-12).

Ary Guzman finished with five aces and Adeline Hibbert had a team-high eight digs.

Knightstown improved to 13-9.
