Coulston, Hendricks win Shelbyville Elementary Cross Country Championship titles

The Blue River Memorial Park cross country venue was the site of the Shelbyville Elementary Cross Country Championships.

Five of the top 10 finishers Monday in the girls race represented Coulston Elementary School. That propelled Coulston to the team title with 28 points.

Loper was runner-up at 42, ahead of St. Joseph (70) and Hendricks (95).

Coulston’s Stella Shook and Marjorie Stevens finished 1-2 in the 2,000-meter race. Shook crossed the finish line in eight minutes, 58.4 seconds. Stevens finished in 9:06.6

Also for Coulston, Avery Stevens placed seventh in 10:30.3, Olivia Haehl finished eighth in 10:49.4, and Brooklyn Murry was 10^th in 10:53.5

Loper placed four runners in the top 10 – Lauren Wilson (third in 9:17.8), Devyn Hurst (fifth in 10:21.6) and Ada Sherwood (ninth in 10:50.5).

St. Joseph’s Scarlett Wimp finished fourth in 9:54.7.

With of the top four finishers in the boys race, Hendricks (photo) secured the team title with 41 points. Coulston was second at 51, three points ahead of Loper (54). St. Joseph finished fourth (67).

Logan Zimny (8:03.2), Jordan Zimny (8:09.6) and Drayden Watson (8:16.3) finished first, second and fourth.

Loper’s Caius Idelwine placed third in 8:13.4.

The second half of the top 10 included Loper’s Alex Nigh (8:17.8), Coulston’s Owenne Morales (8:20.5), Loper’s Ben Isley (8:28.1), St. Joseph’s Sam McFarland (8:31.3) and Coulston’s Lucas Wilson (8:35.8).

Also scoring points for the victorious Hendricks team were Jensen DeBoard (16^th in 9:06.3) and Hudson Hounshell (18^th in 9:18.3).
