After opening the First Financial Classic with a disappointing loss to Parke Heritage,  the Greencastle Tiger Cubs caught fire.

The strong play carried over three games was enough to lift Greencastle to a 59-50 win over Linton-Stockton in the Consolation bracket championship Tuesday afternoon at Terre Haute South.

Greencastle (7-2) traded three pointers against the Miners to open the first quarter, before settling in for a 19-16 deficit after the opening frame. From that point on, it was all Tiger Cubs, as Nathan Sutherlin and Sam Gooch paced Greencastle in the second quarter. When the dust settled, Greencastle held a 32-26 halftime edge and never looked back.

The halftime break did little to slow Greencastle, as the Tiger Cubs held Linton-Stockton to just three points in the third quarter to take a commanding 44-29 lead.

The Miners wouldn't go away quietly down the stretch, however, as Jake Rose and his 13 fourth quarter points kept Linton-Stockton around.

Connor Sullivan led Greencastle with 22 points, while Gooch added 15 and Trevin Long added nine.
