The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) has announced more than $66 million invested through it's State Revolving Fund in loans to local governments and water districts for the first half of Fiscal Year 2024. The fund provides low interest loans for wastewater, stormwater and drinking water projects. Here in Lawrence County, the South Lawrence Water Corporation has been named the recipient of an approximately $1.5 million loan. The funding will be used to improve their water distribution system infrastructure to provide an adequate supply of drinking water to it's customers. They will install two new pumps for booster pump station #2, a new booster pump station to provide interconnect with Bridgeport, booster pump station #1 will get two new pumps, piping and valves and watermains and appurtenances will also be installed.
