On Wednesday at approximately 2:30 p.m., Plymouth Police Officer Allen conducted a traffic stop on North Michigan Street following a speed violation.

Officer Allen was performing speed enforcement on North Michigan Street, just south of Plymouth Goshen Trail, when he clocked a vehicle traveling northbound at 70 mph — double the posted 35 mph speed limit. The vehicle was observed passing other cars at the excessive speed.

The driver, Mario Galvan Torres Jr., 18, was taken into custody and charged with reckless driving.

Galvan Torres was transported to Marshall County Jail, where he was booked and held. He was issued a court date and bond information.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
