A damaged Rochester hydrant has been repaired but city officials note discolored water may still be an issue as the distribution system stabilizes.

Repairs to the damaged hydrant on Wabash Avenue were completed Tuesday following the morning's damage. However, customers throughout town may still experience temporary discoloration or intermittent pressure issues as the water system continues to stabilize and flush itself.

Light colored laundry is still not recommended and residents are encouraged to run outdoor spigots and hoses until water runs clear. Doing so encourages discolored water to be pulled away from the residence rather than brought back through internal plumbing.

In its afternoon update the city offered a sincere apology and appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding during this process. A huge thank you was offered to the utility crews for their continued work.
