City of Plymouth meetings Monday evening in Town Hall

In mid-October, the landlord of 516 Pennsylvania Avenue in Plymouth appeared before the Board of Public Works and Safety to discuss the $2,500 fine imposed for failure to take action.

Plymouth Building Inspector Dennis Manuwal outlined the details to board members. On June 20^th, a safety complaint was submitted to the building department regarding the exterior stairs at the rear of the property leading to the second story. An inspection occurred, and on June 25th, a certified letter with an Order to Take Action was mailed to the property owner, Jerry Heack.  With no action taken by the landlord, the Board of Public Works and Safety imposed a $2,500 fine on September 8th. 

Monday night, the Board of Public Works and Safety will discuss the Order to Take Action again.  Also on the agenda is a discussion of the 2025 Street Projects with one change order.  The board will also consider a confidential settlement agreement with NIPSCO for the delays on Hoham Drive. 

Two requests will be considered: the table request of the DAV for additional signage on Oak Drive and Michigan Street, and a street closure request by the Marshall County Americans 250 Committee. 

The City Council will consider on second and third reading an ordinance amending the garbage fees, and consider the proposed job description for part-time firefighters.  There are three resolutions on the agenda: the Moose Lodge and Kip Cook are seeking commercial revitalization rebate program grants, and an amendment to declare an Economic Revitalization Area for personal property tax abatement

The City Council will get an update on the PRIDE Card by La Voz Unida and an update from the Marshall County EMA director.

The city meetings are open to the public, and those attending should enter through the Garro Street door and move to the second floor.  The meetings are also streamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
