The Hoham Drive Project that was completed with Community Crossing Fund from 2023 is “essentially” finished according to Plymouth City Attorney Jeff Houin. During the Redevelopment Commission meeting on September 17th, he said the project can’t be closed out yet because the contractor is still waiting for the arms that will hold the lights to illuminate the intersection. Initially, this project was scheduled to be completed in October 2023, but delays caused by a subcontractor for NIPSCO delayed the project a couple of times. Additional costs due to those delays will be covered by NIPSCO.
Redevelopment Commission members also learned of a delay in the Water Street Townhouses Project that Kevin Berger is the developer of. Houin said the costs of materials and the interest rate increases have delayed the financing of the project. He did note that the RDA (Regional Development Authority) is supporting this project along with READI 1.0 funds and the Redevelopment Commission’s public funding.
A couple of months ago the Redevelopment Commission agreed to contribute to the Marshall County Career Innovation Center. Attorney Houin said he is working on a formal resolution and anticipates presenting it at their October meeting for approval.
In wrapping up the Redevelopment Commission meeting, members were told the engineers have finally submitted the “as-built” drawings for the infrastructure in Centennial Crossings residential development. They are being reviewed by the city to make sure they meet the standards and then if approved the infrastructure will be dedicated to the City of Plymouth.
