The city of Bridgeport is still taking applications for an additional officer to add to its police force.
The city council Tuesday night received an update on the hiring process from Police Chief Danny Ash and Mayor Tyler Griffin. Griffin told GIANT-FM News that the application period remains open and encouraged anyone interested in law enforcement to apply. Several applications have been submitted according to the mayor, but no firm candidates have been selected.
The Police Committee is expected to meet in the near future to conduct another review of the applications and determine the next course of action. Ideally, a candidate would be hired and be ready to be sent for training by May.
