The city of Bridgeport will hold a public hearing next week on a grant funding application for 2024. The public hearing is at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday January 9th at City Hall. The city this month will apply forĀ $1.5 million in funding through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity State CDBG program. The money will be used to replace roughly 11,000 feet of old cast-iron waterlines in the city, replace 28 fire hydrants and install 104 water valves. The city itself will also commit over $200,000 from it's Water Fund to the project. Anyone wishing to speak on the proposed project can contact City Clerk Jessica Zellars at Bridgeport City Hall at 235 Washington Street no later than January 9th.
