Purdue Extension Marshall County is inviting residents to improve their health and get moving this spring with a free, email-based walking program called "Get WalkIN'."

The program is designed to encourage individuals to start and maintain a physically active lifestyle through independent walking. It is scheduled to begin on April 3, 2026.

Participants in "Get WalkIN'" will receive regular emails providing support, motivation, and information about the health benefits of walking. The emails will also share details about local walking events and activities.

According to Purdue Extension, walking is an accessible, inexpensive way to lower the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and depression. The program aims to help those who may lack the initiative to get started or who have lost motivation in the past.

Participants will be asked to complete two short online surveys during the course of the program.

Residents interested in joining must register by March 27, 2026.

To sign up, send your name and email address to marshces@purdue.edu or call 574-935-8545. For more details, contact Karen Richey at the same number or via email at krichey@purdue.edu.
