It may have taken some time, but a Brazil, Indiana woman was recently sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction for her role in the death of a Greencastle man in 2024.
According to court documents, Susan Marie Burrows, 44, was sentenced to 15 years in jail after pleading guilty to a Level 3 felony count of dealing meth after accepting a plea deal that dropped a Level 1 felony count of dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death. The sentence was the result of the June 2024 death of Steven Grengacs, 55, Greencastle.
Court documents state Burrows mistook deadly drugs for cocaine and gave it to Drengacs and Nicholas Boswell, 33, Greencastle. All three ended up unresponsive outside a camper along U.S. 40 in southwestern Putnam County. After another couple found the bodies, 911 was called and Putnam County Sheriff's Deputies began an investigation. The investigation noted that Drengacs was dead at the scene, while Burrows and Boswell were transported to Putnam County Hospital after being given Narcan.
