INDOT to hold public meeting on U.S. 31 corridor improvements Thursday in Argos

The Indiana Department of Transportation will host a public open house Thursday evening to present planned improvements along U.S. 31 in Marshall and Fulton counties and gather community feedback.

The meeting will focus on proposed changes affecting nine crossings along the U.S. 31 corridor, including the intersections at State Road 10 and State Road 110.

The public meeting will be held Thursday, February 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Argos High School, 500 Yearick Street.

The open house format allows attendees to drop in at any time during the two-hour window, rather than attending a formal presentation. Visitors can view displays, ask questions, and provide input on the proposed improvements.

The planned improvements are designed to achieve three primary objectives:

• Reduce crash severity along the corridor
• Improve traffic operations
• Enhance long-term mobility

U.S. 31 serves as a major north-south transportation route through both counties, carrying significant commercial and commuter traffic daily. Safety improvements at key intersections have been identified as priorities for reducing accidents and improving traffic flow.

INDOT officials are encouraging residents, business owners, and commuters who regularly use the U.S. 31 corridor to attend the open house and share their perspectives on the proposed improvements.

Community input gathered at the meeting will be considered as INDOT finalizes plans for the project.
