Forgot your wallet? Don’t worry, the BMV now accepts mobile wallet payments

Hoosiers now have a more convenient way to make a payment for their transaction at the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). The BMV has completed installation of new debit and credit card machines that accept mobile wallet payments via Apple Pay and Google Pay at all its branches across the Hoosier state.

“The BMV is one of the places Hoosiers interact most with state government, and those interactions should be as quick and convenient as possible,” said Indiana Governor Mike Braun. “Last year I signed an executive order to modernize the BMV and improve the customer experience. Adding tap-to-pay and mobile wallet options is another common-sense step toward making government work better for Hoosiers.”

In addition to the new mobile wallet payment options, customers will also be able to tap-to-pay with their credit or debit card at each customer service station. These upgrades are part of the BMV’s continuing effort to modernize its processes as a part of Governor Braun’s Executive Order 25-41, signed last year.

“We are committed to providing convenient customer options,” said BMV Commissioner Kevin Garvey. “There’s no more convenient payment option than being able to use your mobile device to make a quick payment.”

The BMV remains committed to continually enhancing its processes to stay up to date with evolving technology trends. The installation of these new payment devices will provide added convenience for our customers, helping to prevent delays in the more common 21st Century situation where someone may have simply forgotten their wallet but remembered their mobile device.
