Today is Primary Election Day in Indiana, and polls across Marshall County are officially open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
When heading to the polls, residents are reminded that Indiana law requires a valid photo ID to vote in person. If a voter does not have proper identification or encounters an issue with their registration, they may cast a provisional ballot and verify their eligibility at a later date. Additionally, because this is a primary election, voters will be required to declare a party preference—either Democratic or Republican—before receiving their ballot.
The 2026 primary is a crucial step in the election cycle, as it decides the party nominees for a wide range of offices. On the ballot are all nine of Indiana's U.S. House seats, numerous State House and Senate seats, and statewide offices such as Secretary of State. Locally, voters will select nominees for county sheriff, judges, county council, county commissioner, assessor, township trustees, advisory board members, and party convention delegates.
Marshall County utilizes a "vote center" system, which provides maximum flexibility for residents. Registered voters are not restricted to a specific precinct and can cast their ballot at any of the county's voting locations—whether it's on their way to work, school, or heading home.
