Two area state lawmakers have received appointments to serve on Indiana legislative interim study committees, which will meet throughout the summer and fall to examine key policy issues ahead of the 2027 legislative session.

State Representative Jack Jordan (R-Bremen) has been appointed to the Interim Study Committee on Fiscal Policy. Jordan said keeping Indiana on sound financial footing remains a top priority. "Maintaining our reputation as a fiscally responsible state that's open for business is top of mind for me," he said. "We'll continue reviewing various programs and services to ensure we're being good stewards of Hoosiers' tax dollars."

State Representative Jake Teshka (R-North Liberty) earned appointments to two committees — the Interim Study Committee on Education and the Interim Study Committee on Financial Institutions and Insurance. "Summer study committees are a great time to take a deep dive into various issues and consider reforms that will benefit Hoosiers," Teshka said. "From student learning recovery efforts to ensuring a strong economy, lawmakers are focused on keeping Indiana one of the top states to live and work in."

Both committees will gather input from public testimony, industry experts, and stakeholders to develop bill recommendations before the legislative session begins in January. Committee hearings and agendas are available on the Indiana General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov.
