The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a traffic pattern shift that will impact State Road 63 near Newport.

Beginning on or after Wednesday, September 2, INDOT contractors will begin moving traffic from the two southbound lanes on S.R. 63 to the two northbound lanes between S.R. 71 and U.S. 36. The purpose of the new traffic pattern is to continue resurfacing and drainage work that has been ongoing since May.

Construction is anticipated to last through October but is weather-dependent and subject to change. Once construction is finished in 2026, it will resume again in 2027. INDOT encourages drivers to use caution and avoid distractions while traveling in and around work zones.
