The Marshall County Recycle Depot will not be taking plastics or aluminum for at least another week while undergoing equipment repairs. All other recycling services, including those for cardboard, paper, plastic film, and Styrofoam, remain available. Additionally, household hazardous waste collection services are open at the facility.
“Our compactor continues to give us problems,” said Director Marianne Peters. “We thought we had it fixed, but there appear to be other issues with the machine. We hope to have it back in service by Monday, December 22, if all goes well. We are so sorry for the inconvenience.”
Curbside recycling services are available in the county through municipalities and private haulers, and metal items such as aluminum cans can be taken to local scrapyards such as LaPaz Iron and Metal, Rochester Iron and Metal, or Lewis Salvage in Warsaw.
Peters expressed her appreciation for everyone’s patience while the compactor is in the shop.
The Recycle Depot is Marshall County’s headquarters for recycling, household chemical and hazardous waste disposal, and environmental education. Compost bins and supplies, as well as rain barrels, are also available for sale. The Depot is located at 1900 Walter Glaub Drive, Plymouth. For more information and hours, call (574) 935-8618 or visit the Depot’s website at www.myrecycledepot.org.
