The Marshall County Solid Waste Management District's Recycle Depot will be closed to the public Wednesday, October 14 through Friday, October 16 for routine maintenance on its balers and compactor. The facility will resume regular services on Saturday, October 17.
The closures come as the district prepares for an anticipated surge in recycling activity during the upcoming holiday season.
"We regret the closures, but we want to make sure we are ready for a busy holiday season," said Marianne Peters, Marshall County Solid Waste District Director. "Household recycling typically increases between Thanksgiving and New Year's."
With the maintenance schedule in place, the Recycle Depot will operate on a modified schedule this week: Monday, October 12 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Tuesday, October 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and Saturday, October 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Recycle Depot, located at 1900 Walter Glaub Drive in Plymouth, serves as Marshall County's headquarters for recycling, household hazardous waste disposal, and environmental education.
Items accepted for disposal include: batteries, automotive supplies, household cleaners and solvents, televisions and other electronic waste, and paints and stains
In addition to disposal services, the facility offers compost bins and supplies, as well as rain barrels and rain barrel kits, available for purchase.
