The weekend's incidents began on Friday, May 1st, at approximately 8:30 a.m. Officer Krynock conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Walnut and Jefferson Streets for a traffic infraction. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Melinda Barber of Plymouth, was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended-prior driver's license. Barber was taken into custody.

The following day, at about 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 2nd, Officer Krynock made another traffic stop for an infraction, this time at U.S. 30 and Oak Drive. Early Sunday morning, May 3rd, at approximately 4:10 a.m., the focus shifted to a local business. Officer Allen observed a vehicle parked in the Kroger parking lot that was left running with the driver's side door open and no occupants inside.

While investigating the abandoned vehicle, officers were approached by 18-year-old Natalia Calix Chirinos of Bremen.
