According to Zentis, the facility specializes in the production of fruit preparations for the dairy, ice cream, and bakery industries.
South Bend Hazmat responded to assist and was on the scene working alongside Plymouth Firefighters to mitigate the situation into the early evening. The South Bend Fire Department Hazmat Team serves as the District 2 response agency, covering 7 counties.
One individual sustained injury and was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.
Zentis cancelled first and second shifts, and while many of the surrounding businesses were impacted by the street closures, they were not evacuated and remained open.
