Anne Laker praises Hoppe’s work as “dozens of bite-sized melodies and ironies wrought with Hoppe’s waiting ear, laser eye, sense of place, and heart leaning far into love.” Hoppe’s broader oeuvre spans novels, memoirs, and plays, including Mondo POTUS, Letters from Michiana, Midcentury Boy, and After Paul McCartney and Sacred Sands, with the author residing in Long Beach, Indiana.
