The Lawrence Unit 20 Board of Education met Thursday evening at the Lawrenceville High School Library. A large crowd was on hand for the public comment portion of the meeting which centered on an apparent contractual issue between the East Lawrence Education Association (ELEA) and the district. It was announced that the board would not be dealing with that issue or any staff reduction matters during their executive session. The board did accept the retirements of three longtime district employees-Kerry Irvin, Shirley Shick and Tamara Gher. They also accepted the resignation of Brittany Boldt as Unit 20 assistant superintendent. Boldt has been with the district for 3 years with the last 2 spent as assistant superintendent. Superintendent Doug Daugherty did announced that action on the approval of Parkview Junior High HVAC project bids would be tabled until Monday. The board was originally to accept a bid Thursday night, but due to some additional information needed by the bidders regarding the work from the project engineers made the delay neccesary. The board will meet in special session on Monday at a time to be determined to take action on the project.
