Knauf Insulation, Inc. (Knauf), a leading North American manufacturer of fiberglass insulation, has announced a significant investment in its Shelbyville, Indiana operations.
This strategic investment underscores Knauf’s commitment to delivering high-quality products, meeting evolving customer needs, and driving continuous growth into the future.
The investment includes comprehensive upgrades to existing pipe production, the addition of a new state-of-the-art pipe production line, and expanded glass capacity to support both pipe and blowing wool production. The initiative will enhance and modernize manufacturing processes, increase production capacity, and further position Knauf as a leader in sustainable, automated, and digitalized manufacturing solutions.
“The investment in our Shelbyville operations reflects Knauf’s unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and meeting the evolving needs of our customers,” said Knauf CEO Matt Parrish. “By modernizing our production capabilities and expanding capacity, we are not only strengthening our ability to deliver high-quality products but also reinforcing our confidence in the long-term growth of the market and our partnerships with our customers.”

These initiatives will result in:
- Enhanced pipe production capabilities: Pipe production line improvements will be made during a scheduled rebuild that will modernize plant operations, optimize production processes, and expand product output.
- Increased pipe insulation capacity: A new dedicated pipe production line in Shelbyville will add capacity to its portfolio and will utilize enhanced automation, energy efficient technology, and state-of-the-art equipment.
- Increased blowing wool capacity: Knauf also is adding a new, dedicated blowing wool line at its Shelbyville fiberglass manufacturing facility. The new line is expected to be commissioned in quarter two of 2026.
This investment is part of Knauf’s broader strategy to future-proof its operations by integrating advanced technologies, enhancing sustainability, and expanding capacity to better serve its customers. By investing in innovation today, Knauf is ensuring its ability to meet the needs of customers tomorrow.
“Knauf’s commitment to advanced sustainable manufacturing technologies extends to the types of products we manufacture and the impact they have on the built environment,” said Heather Cykoski, Chief Commercial Officer for Knauf. “This is the start of new era for Knauf and a fulfillment of our commitment to be formaldehyde-free in all our products by the end of 2025.
